Refrigerator temperature
It's important to set your refrigerator correctly. The ideal temperature for a refrigerator is 4 degrees Celsius. This prevents bacteria from growing, and all food stays fresh longer.
Meat, fish and substitutes
The bottom drawer is ideal for these three products. The temperature in the bottom drawer is the lowest, meaning products spoil less quickly than elsewhere in the refrigerator. Make sure the products are well-wrapped to prevent cross-contamination. Also, keep in mind that the back of the drawer is colder than the front.
Drinks
If you have a bottle rack in your refrigerator, you can store soft drinks and beer there. If not, keep them in the center of the refrigerator. Store juices in the refrigerator door.
Dairy
Store products like (buttermilk), yogurt, and custard at the bottom of the refrigerator door. Store butter at the top of the refrigerator door, and cheese on the middle shelf. Store bread salads on the top shelf.
Vegetables and fruits
Most refrigerators have a crisper drawer where you can store vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, cut vegetables, leafy greens, apples, pears, and other types of (soft) fruit. Vegetables like potatoes, onions, cucumbers, bell peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, and eggplant are best stored outside the refrigerator.
Leftovers
It's best to store these in the center of the refrigerator. The refrigerator temperature here shouldn't be too warm or too cold. Just make sure you let the food cool completely before putting it in the refrigerator.
